I remember when I was young and Halloween was about a month away. I would begin planning what it was I wanted to be and would promptly tell my mother because she would always sew the costume. Over the decades, society has changed greatly (and I’m only 30). Parents work long hours, some are raising their children/child alone, and no longer here are the Betty Crocker days where girls take sewing classes in high school just so they can sew the buttons on their husband’s shirts, or make their children costumes come Halloween time.
Instead, if young girls are taking sewing it’s because they are interested in becoming designers, and besides, costumes are now inexpensive so they are bought. It is this shift in perspectives, and this change in society, that has enabled individuals such as Arma to make a fortune on his famous Tom Arma infant costumes, especially at Halloween.

I’m sure there are still moms out there that make their kid’s Halloween costumes from scratch and I applaud you. Not me.
