Nursery Furniture Checklist…Are you Ready?
When it comes to designing and decorating your baby’s nursery there are many things to take into consideration. Once you have selected colors and picked out a theme, there comes the task of furbishing the room and deciding on what nursery furniture you would like to have. While choosing nursery furniture may seem as easy as picking out a changing table, a crib, and a dresser, hidden within all those items are many other accessories you might not have thought of.
In order to create a comfy cozy nursery with nursery furniture that both you and your baby can enjoy there are a few starter items that need to be purchased. First of all, select a crib that is sturdy and durable. Finding a baby crib to fit the style and theme of your baby’s nursery will not be difficult, as there are literally thousands of choices available at online stores and regular retail stores.
Once you have chosen your crib you will need to purchase a crib mattress. Some cribs come with a crib mattress and others don’t. Whatever the case may be, ensure that the mattress fits snuggly inside the crib for maximum safety. Another essential piece of nursery furniture is the changing table. Many of the changing tables available today eventually convert into a dresser; therefore, versatility is something to consider when looking at your options.
As for other major furniture items typically found in a nursery, there are rocking chairs, gliders, armoires and side tables. All of these furniture pieces can be found as either part of a set, or bought separately. Either way, it always depends on the type of space you are working with and the budget you have.
Once the big nursery furniture items have been purchased, attention can be focused on the various accessories that are a must have in any nursery. Items such as lamps, rugs, window hardware, wall art, nursing pillows, diaper stackers, frames, storage baskets and shelving are only a fraction of what is found in some of the more organized and restful sanctuaries out there. By simply browsing through your friends’ nurseries and looking through various magazines, or at online stores, you can find all the information you need to equip your baby’s nursery with the right furniture.
Nursery furniture is fun to shop for because of the beautiful selections available today. The choices are endless (and the prices can be too, note that some of the best prices available are at online stores!) but once you have purchased your main items, you will find that everything else will follow in due time. The only thing that will be left for you to do is to sit back and marvel at the wonderful sleep haven you have created for your precious newborn.
