From Gossip To Graco - Is The Graco Stroller The One For You?
Four of my closest friends recently had babies; before this the word Graco stroller had never been a part of my vocabulary! Needless to say, our routine meetings and conversations at Starbucks shifted from tantalizing gossip to the latest trends in baby wear and strollers. I must admit, while sometimes it is difficult to stay focused on what these excited new moms are talking about, one day the conversation turned into a heated debate. Believe it, or not, I actually shifted my attention from the cute guy reading the paper to what it was they were arguing about.
To the average person, without children, a debate about Graco strollers may seem insignificant; however, I assure you that these women meant business. In fact, it made me go home and investigate for myself what all the fuss was about. Heaven forbid that when I have a baby, I buy the wrong stroller, or even worse, it not be a Graco stroller! To my surprise, what I did discover was how insanely popular particular strollers are, and how selecting the wrong stroller can cause havoc in your life and make you an “outcast” in mommy and me groups.
The Graco stroller can be found at any of the thousands of online stores that offer strollers. However, what I found incredibly interesting and helpful was my visit to the actual Graco Baby website. It was here that I was amazed at how intricate choosing a stroller can be.
The website is designed so that by simply pointing, answering and clicking you can design a Graco stroller that is perfect for you. The stroller category is divided into four product types: Lightweight, Standard Size, Double and Travel Systems. If this information stresses you out already, then you can go to their “Strollers Selector” questionnaire which asks you a few simple questions and then guides you to the stroller best suited for your needs. Once you have decided on a product type you can then look at features such as: restraint systems, accessories (cup holders, canopies etc…), style (plaid, tweed, etc…), color, price, or by activity (strolling vs. traveling).
By no means are you required to make your Graco stroller purchase directly from Graco in order to get what you want. Their site simply helps you to refine your choice so that you can then look for your selection at discount stores, ebay, or whatever other store you happen to find it at.
When we met again at Starbucks the following week, I pondered whether or not to tell the girls what I had done after the last meeting. But then again, did I really want to talk about the Graco stroller, when that cute guy was back again, in the same spot, reading his paper? I think today I’ll just sit back and pretend like I’m listening, as usual.
